Ease of Use
New users can start using GRIP with amazingly little training. In fact, our clients tell us that it takes only 15 minutes to be able to start using the system productively.
The reason that this is possible is that the three major centres (Client, Candidate & Vacancy) all work in a identical manner so when you know how one works you then know how they all work. It is here that users spend the vast majority of their time.
Open & Unrestricted
It is very easy to overlook the significance of how open and unrestrictive a software system is.
This has a direct effect on at least three things:
- User Productivity
- User Experience
- Company Image
If a user is presented with full-screen windows or dialog windows that require some action before proceeding elsewhere (e.g. MS Word 'Save File' window) then this shows a closed, restrictive system. This is something that reduces productivity but unless someone has experienced an open system and brings it to attention then users may well be unaware that a 'problem' even exists.
A open system (in the sense of usability) becomes a delight for users and improves the user experience.
By contrast, restriction can become very frustrating to users. In addition, it negatively impacts the company image as the time to close an existing screen, open another, find information then perhaps be asked question(s) that further require further navigation all takes time. This shows the usability of the system in a slow and bad light and therefore gives the impression of a company that is inefficient.
Great use of 'Drag/Drop'
We believe GRIP may be the strongest recruitment system in two areas:
- Extremely high level of integration with Microsoft Exchange & Outlook.
- The extent to which drag and drop is used in the system.
For example, to send a candidate CV to a client you simply select your target client and then your candidate. Drag the candidate name onto the edge of the Client Centre and it will automatically bring it to the front. This then allows you to drop onto the client email edit box. An outlook email message window then pops up complete with recipient, subject, signature and the correct CV already attached.

See the pictures above that shows each selection area from the Client, Candidate and Vacancy centres respectively.
This has been a very powerful feature of GRIP from the beginning. Many competitors only allow the ability to select and work with one person or vacancy at a time. This is where the GRIP selection area shows its strength by allowing multiple as well as single selections to be made and operations to be then performed on these selections. (e.g. emailing or mail-merging multiple clients.)
Note that you can populate the selection area by many ways. For example:
- Perform a Quick Find
- Send Query results to the selection area
- Drag and drop here
- Recall a saved list
